Dog Hotel FAQ

My dog is staying at your resort for a few nights, what should I pack?
Excellent question! Please pack enough food for your dog’s stay. If your dog is on any medication please bring that as well. We require that you pack your dog’s food in individually labeled baggies or containers for each meal. We cannot accept open bags of food because we have many guests with food allergies and cannot risk cross contamination. You may also bring treats and a blanket or bed. As always, please bring your dog in on a leash. All of your dog’s supplies will go together into a labeled Hotel cubby to ensure that it all stays together.

We will keep a close eye on your dog’s eating habits, and ensure that they are getting the nourishment they need. We will monitor their weight, temperament and overall condition to ensure that they are healthy and happy when they leave. If we notice any issues at all, we will tend to them promptly.

What happens if there is a health emergency while my dog is staying in your hotel?
We will make our very best effort to contact you or your emergency contact immediately. If we are unable to get a hold of you or your emergency contact we will contact our 24 hour partner veterinarian and be advised on what we need to do to care for your beloved pooch. Depending on the situation, veterinary expenses may be added to your bill. If your dog comes in with any pre-existing issues such as a bladder or ear infection and we believe it needs medical intervention, we will take them to our partner veterinarian. In most cases, any pre-existing condition that incurs a veterinary expense will be added to your bill.

Do you have a set drop off or pickup time for your hotel?
No we do not, you can drop off and pick up at any time, but there is an additional $10 fee for drop off between 7pm-7am for hotel guests. Dropping off between these hours requires special care for your pup as they do not have enough time to play and settle in to our environment before putting them down for bed, often causing undue stress to your pet and the rest of the facility.

Do you have a same dog/family rate?
Yes we do! Please check out our hotel page for rates.

Do you cater to siblings?
If you have a multiple dog family we will be happy to make special arrangements for them. We recommend considering our luxury condo for multiple dog families.

My dog is not kennel trained. Where will she sleep?
If your dog is not kennel trained please consider one of our luxury condos – we designed them specifically for dog’s who prefer to not be in a kennel!

My dog eats raw, how do you accommodate to this diet?
We have an entire fridge/freezer for our special diet pooches. We will label your dog’s food and put it in the fridge or freezer until meal time.

My dog is on medication, will this be an issue?
Absolutely not. Please give us detailed instructions on administering your dog’s medication. HappyTails does not do any injections.

Do you have a cancellation fee?
No we do not have a cancellation fee for hotel. However, we appreciate you letting us know at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled night if you do not plan on attending.

How far in advance should I book my dog in for the hotel?
We recommend booking as soon as possible. During holidays and weekends we do book up and may not be able to accommodate your dog. In the case that we cannot accommodate you we would be happy to put you on a waiting list and call you if there are any cancellations. Keep in mind that we do not have a cancellation fee, you can tentatively book and let us know if you no longer require the service.

Can my dog get groomed during their hotel stay?
They sure can! After seven nights your dog will receive a complimentary bath on the day of or day before pickup, depending on the scheduled pickup time. If you would like to upgrade to a full groom, please let us know and leave instructions with our sales staff at check in!

What is an Emergency Contact?
An emergency contact is someone you trust with your pet that is able to pick up and continue care if we cannot, they might also be required to transport your pet to the vet if needed as HappyTails does not transport unless it is a life threatening emergency. HappyTails requires an emergency contact for all hotel stays, as well as a secondary contact for stays over 7 nights. We have the right to refuse any hotel service if we cannot confirm your Emergency Contact.
